The Blaine Borderites girls wrestling team has showcased exceptional talent this season, earning significant accolades both in the Northwest Conference (NWC) and at the state level.
All-NWC Honors:
The NWC, encompassing 1A, 2A, and 3A classifications, recognized several Blaine wrestlers for their outstanding performances:
- First Team All-NWC: Analicia Ordonez secured a spot on the First Team, highlighting her dominance in her weight class.
- Second Team All-NWC: Makenna Lausier, Abby Gonzalez, and Jasmine Delos-Santos were honored with Second Team selections, reflecting their consistent excellence throughout the season.
WIAA Mat Classic Achievements:
At the prestigious WIAA Mat Classic state tournament, Blaine's wrestlers delivered remarkable performances:
- Makenna Lausier (105 lbs): Lausier advanced to the finals in the 1B/2B/1A 105-pound category, ultimately securing second place after a hard-fought match against Malia Riojas of Granger.
- Analicia Ordonez (155 lbs): Ordonez showcased her prowess by earning a third-place finish, further cementing her status as one of the state's top competitors.
Collectively, the Blaine girls wrestling team amassed 66 points, achieving a commendable 15th place in the team standings at the Mat Classic.
