Yates Gets Three Hits in Win

Evan Yates collected three hits in four at bats, as Blaine defeated Mount Baker High School 16-6 on Tuesday. Yates tripled in the sixth inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

Blaine won thanks in part to nine runs in the sixth inning. Brady Dohner singled, scoring one run, #9 induced Isaac Bouma to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored, Ashton Vezzetti singled, scoring one run, Josh Cochran grounded out, scoring one run, George Streeter singled, scoring two runs, Yates tripled, scoring one run, and Aaron Garza singled, scoring one run.

Blaine opened the scoring in the first after Garza singled, scoring two runs.

Blaine took the lead in the bottom of the second. Yates singled, scoring one run, to give Blaine Varsity Borderites 2025 the lead, 3-2.

Garza earned the win for Blaine. The pitcher gave up two hits and four runs (one earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking three. Connor Brown stepped on the mound first for Blaine. The pitcher gave up two hits and two runs (zero earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking three. Bouma collected the save.

Blaine collected 15 hits in the game. Yates and Garza were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Blaine while hitting back-to-back. Garza provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Blaine with three runs batted in. The shortstop went 3-for-5 on the day. Vezzetti, Dohner, Streeter, and Landon Brown each collected multiple hits for Blaine Varsity Borderites 2025. Yates stole two bases. Blaine ran wild on the base paths, collecting five stolen bases for the game. Blaine turned one double play in the game.


Next up for Blaine is a game against Squalicum Varsity Storm on Wednesday.
