Blaine won big over Lakewood High School 13-2 on Tuesday.
Blaine got on the board in the top of the second inning after Landon Brown walked, Josh Cochran singled to center field, and Evan Yates walked, each scoring one run.
Blaine added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Brady Dohner stole home, Cochran singled down the left field line, George Streeter grounded into a fielder's choice, and Aaron Garza walked, each scoring one run.
Blaine scored six runs on two hits in the top of the fourth inning. Ashton Vezzetti singled, scoring one run, Streeter drew a walk, scoring one run, Yates grounded out, scoring one run, Garza singled, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run.
Cochran earned the win for Blaine. The hurler surrendered five hits and one run (zero earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking none. Hayes took the loss for Lakewood High School. The pitcher went one and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs on two hits, striking out one and walking five. Garza appeared in relief for Blaine.
Garza drove the middle of the lineup, leading Blaine with three runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Vezzetti and Cochran each collected two hits for Blaine. Brown led Blaine 5 with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up 14 walks for the game.
Taylor led Lakewood High School with one run batted in. The first baseman went 1-for-2 on the day. Grady D led Lakewood High School with two hits in two at bats.
Blaine welcomes Oak Harbor High School on Wednesday for their next game.
