The Blaine Borderites softball team is set to face Meridian in a pivotal district game this Saturday at 11 a.m. at Bender Fields. The stakes are high: the winner will move on to play Nooksack Valley, with a spot in the Bi-District tournament on the line.
Blaine heads into Saturday's matchup riding the momentum of a recent win over Sehome, where the Borderites displayed strong teamwork and solid play to close out their regular season on a high note.

Shaylie Daniels drove in four runs on three hits to lead Blaine past Sehome 14-4 on Thursday. Daniels doubled in the third scoring two, hit a solo home run to right field in the first scoring one, and doubled in the fourth scoring one.
Sehome got on the board in the top of the first inning after #21 singled to center field, and #3 grounded out, each scoring one run.
Daniels hit a solo home run to right field in the bottom of the first for the Blaine.
Sehome added one run in the second after #5 grounded out.
Sehome added one run in the third after #14 doubled to right field.
Blaine flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the third, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 6-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Daniels that drove in two.
Blaine scored six runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Courtney Roff singled, scoring one run, Mesa Puls doubled, scoring two runs, Daniels doubled, scoring one run, Aaliyah Bowman singled, scoring one run, and a passed ball scored one run.
Daniels earned the win for Blaine. The righty surrendered three hits and four runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out five and walking one. #20 took the loss for Sehome. The hurler went four and two-thirds innings, allowing 14 runs (eight earned) on 10 hits, striking out seven and walking five. Puls threw one inning of zero-run ball for Blaine in relief. The reliever allowed one hit, striking out one and walking none.
Blaine collected 10 hits in the game. Bowman and Puls each collected multiple hits for Blaine. Kate Koreski led Blaine with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying five walks for the game. Brie Smith stole two bases. Blaine ran wild on the base paths, amassing five stolen bases for the game.
#14 and #21 were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Sehome. #14, #21, and #3 each drove in one run for Sehome.
