The Blaine Borderites are sending a strong contingent of nine student-athletes to the 2025 WIAA State Track & Field Championships in Yakima this weekend after standout performances at the district and bi-district levels.
Leading the charge are Blaine's relay squads, with both the boys and girls 4x100 meter teams earning state berths. The girls relay team includes Teia Dube, Brietta Sandell, Julie Zuzarte, and Kaitlyn Ritter Von Trautmann, while the boys team features Beckum Bleazard, Dylan Johnson, Jaiden Paez, and Colby Shipp.
Senior Josiah Weeda will represent Blaine individually in two hurdle events, having qualified in both the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles.
On the girls’ side, Teia Dube also qualified for state in the high jump, showing her versatility as both a sprinter and field athlete. Teammate Kaitlyn Ritter Von Trautmann advanced in the 200-meter dash, and Brietta Sandell will join Weeda in the 300-meter hurdles, making it a strong event for the Borderites on both the boys’ and girls’ sides.
With a mix of relay chemistry and individual excellence, the Borderites are poised for a competitive showing at the state meet.
Good luck to all our athletes competing in Yakima this weekend—go Borderites!
