The Blaine Borderites Track and Field team capped off a successful season with a strong showing at the WIAA 1A State Championships in Yakima last weekend. A talented group of student-athletes represented Blaine on the biggest stage, competing against the top athletes in the state.
Kaitlyn Ritter Von Trautmann placed 11th in the 200-meter dash.
The boys 4x100-meter team — Colby Shipp, Dylan Johnson, Jaiden Paez, and Beckum Bleazard — earned an 11th-place.
Teia Dube finished 13th in the high jump.
The girls 4x100-meter relay team — Brietta Sandell, Teia Dube, Kaitlyn Ritter Von Trautmann, and Julie Zuzarte — placed 15th.
Brietta Sandell also placed 15th in the 300-meter hurdles.
The standout performance of the weekend came from Josiah Weeda, who earned 2nd place in both the 110-meter hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles, bringing home a pair of silver medals and cementing himself as one of the top hurdlers in the state.
Congratulations to all the Borderite athletes on an excellent season and for proudly representing Blaine at the state level!
