As the 2024–25 school year comes to a close, Blaine High School is proud to recognize four exceptional student-athletes for their achievements, leadership, and contributions to their teams and community.

Brie Smith and Josiah Weeda were honored with the prestigious Cliff Gillies Award, which celebrates excellence in athletics, academics, and citizenship. Brie was a standout three-sport athlete, competing in volleyball, basketball, and softball throughout her high school career. Her dedication, sportsmanship, and leadership set a high standard for her peers. Josiah, a two-sport athlete, made his mark in basketball and track and field. On the track, he placed second in two hurdle events at the state level, showcasing his athleticism and determination. His commitment extended beyond performance—he was a leader on and off the court.

Juliana Zuzarte earned the title of Female Athlete of the Year. A multi-sport athlete, Juliana played soccer and qualified for the state meet in track and field. Her hard work and team-first attitude made her a vital part of every squad she joined.

Blake Koreski was named Male Athlete of the Year. Competing in football, wrestling, and soccer, Blake demonstrated remarkable versatility and toughness. His leadership, work ethic, and ability to elevate those around him left a lasting impact.

All four of these student-athletes were more than just competitors—they were role models in the classroom, leaders in the community, and examples of what it means to be a Borderite. Congratulations to Brie, Josiah, Juliana, and Blake on their well-deserved honors.
