Emersyn Bakker hit two home runs and drove in four as Blaine defeated Meridian 13-0 on Thursday. Bakker homered in the sixth and first innings.
Blaine got on the board in the top of the first inning after Bakker homered to left field, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run. Blaine extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI errors by Teya Zaddack and Mesa Puls. Then scoring three runs in the top of the fourth on a home run to center field by Jordyn Vezzetti. Four more Borderites crossed the plate in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 13-0. An error scored one run, and Bakker homered to left field, scoring three runs.
Bakker earned the win for the day. The right-handed pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out eight. Shaylie Daniels threw two innings of zero-run ball in relief. The righty surrendered one hit, striking out two.
The Borderites piled up 14 hits in the game. J. Vezzetti and Bakker were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in four runs for Blaine. Aaliyah Bowman went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead in hits. Daniels and Bella Vezzetti each collected multiple hits on the day. The Borderites turned one double play to end the game.
