The Blaine Borderites secured a thrilling victory over Meridian on Tuesday night, advancing to the district championship after a hard-fought 2-1 win decided by penalty kicks. The Borderites will now face off against Lynden Christian for the district title this Saturday.
Juliana Zuzarte put Blaine on the scoreboard, scoring the team’s lone goal during regulation time. Her effort kept the Borderites level with Meridian, pushing the game into a nail-biting penalty shootout.
In the penalty round, Blaine’s players showed nerves of steel. Marcella Bring, Larissa Pluschakov, Kate Koreski, and Bailey Bass each found the back of the net, sealing the Borderites' victory. With the win, Blaine moves one step closer to securing the district championship title.
