The Blaine Borderites boys wrestling team made a strong statement at the Mariner Holiday Tournament over the weekend, earning an impressive third-place finish. The team’s performance was bolstered by standout achievements from several wrestlers, including five athletes who placed in the top three of their respective weight classes.

Among the top performers was Otto Shelton, who not only secured a 1st place finish but also won the prestigious award for most pins in the least amount of time. Shelton’s determination and skill were on full display throughout the tournament, earning him recognition as one of the event’s standout competitors.

The Borderites' overall success highlights the depth and talent of the team, which continues to grow stronger as the season progresses.

Dual Meet Results: Blaine Splits Against Bellingham and Mt. Vernon

The Borderites kept up the momentum with dual meets on Tuesday night. Facing off against Bellingham, Blaine secured a victory, showcasing their dominance and teamwork. However, the team faced a tougher challenge against Mt. Vernon, narrowly losing in a close and hard-fought contest.

Despite the mixed results, the Borderites demonstrated resilience and competitive spirit, setting the stage for a promising rest of the season.
